Whiteness: it’s the air we breathe, the water we swim in, and…the soil we cultivate? A force that affects nearly every aspect of our lives in this country, yet white people hardly notice its presence. Join us during the month of March for an exploration of whiteness in the food system. Using podcast episodes from the Center for Documentary Studies and PRX’s podcast series, Scene on Radio, we’ll trace the origins of whiteness in this country’s founding and learn to locate whiteness in our own lives, especially as it pertains to our food system. By identifying this elusive but pervasive force, we can use what we learn to advance racial equity.

We are thrilled to announce that this study series will be capped off by a keynote presentation and Q&A from the host of the Scene on Radio podcast and audio program director at Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies, John Biewen. John grew up in Mankato, Minnesota, and as a journalist has been asking hard questions about race for many years.
