4 – 7 p.m.
McNally Smith College of Music, 19 Exchange Street East, St. Paul
• Catherine Friend, who sees farming as a sometimes-comic adventure in her latest book, Sheepish.
• Brett Laidlaw, who writes about finding and cooking wild foods in Minnesota in Trout Caviar.
• Jill Lewis, co-author of Minnesota Lunch, a history of immigrant and ethnic cooking in Minnesota with a focus on the sandwich.
It was an evening of readings, signings and good food. To supplement the potluck, we provided pasties to go with Minnesota Lunch and Sheep’s milk cheeses from Shepherd’s Way Farms to go with Sheepish. Brett Laidlaw brought his popcorn salad, which also contains celery and apples.
