Making it easy for small stores to offer high-quality, low-cost fruits and vegetables to their customers. Brightside Produce buys bulk, wholesale produce and makes weekly deliveries to community-based businesses.

 

North country food alliance

Taking action to strengthen food sovereignty in the Twin Cities Metro Area. Sharing healthy, culturally appropriate food with people denied access due to systemic oppressions, building community gardens, and reducing commercial and local food waste. Listen to this to learn more.

Seeking to close gaps across difference through making Intentional Social Interaction the new pattern for society where people of color, the disenfranchised, the poor, the unheard, the fragile, the LGBTQ+ and anyone who is normally left out of community decision making are automatically included and valued at the policy-making and resource-sharing table. HAFA is dedicated to advancing the economic and social prosperity of Hmong farmers through cooperative endeavors, capacity building and advocacy. HAFA was started and is led by family farmers. Organizing is in their DNA.

Chef Yazzie focuses on bringing together hyper-local indigenous ingredients from the streams, rivers, and forests to revitalize healthy indigenous cuisine. He brings creativity to ancestral knowledge through modern techniques.

Cornercopia Student Organic Farm at the University of Minnesota

Giving students opportunities to learn firsthand what it takes to plan, grow and market food through coursework, internships, volunteer work, and otherwise.

An organic incubator farm in Cambridge, Minnesota with a mission to empower African immigrant farmers, socially and economically by training beginning farmers, increasing their access to farmland and creating community.

LEAFF is not a grant, but a guarantee to buy up to $7,500 of produce from each accepted farm during the 2020 season. For emerging and BIPOC farmers within 200 miles of the Twin Cities.

Shared Ground Farmers cooperative

Making environmentally sustainable farming a living wage job for any who chose to pursue it, especially for minority, immigrant, and beginning farmers. A way for farmers with limited resources to gain more stable income and build their leadership skills through participation in a member-owned and member-governed enterprise.

Chef Yia Vang honors the past, present, and future of Hmong cooking with a strong sense of hospitality and abundance. Yia uses food to tell a story and believes that every dish has a narrative. Through sourcing what’s in season and combining local traditions with those from his family and cultural traditions, Yia invites people to change how they think about food by considering the influences in each bite.
