Members tried the newly-opened Bluestem Bar & Table, which is located in a former bakery space behind French Meadow. The dinner of organic, local food was created by George Lohr and included wine pairings. Much of the restaurant’s produce is grown in backyard gardens the street.

Beth Fisher, the Wise Acre chef, provided a four-course menu of farm-to-table dishes. Most of the ingredients used at Wise Acre come directly from the owners’ (Scott Endres and Dean Engelmann’s) Tangletown Gardens Farm in Plato, MN.

Guests enjoyed a delicious menu of Indian and Bangladeshi dishes prepared by Ruhel Islam. Ruhel talked about how he combines good food, peace, equity and sustainability in his work. He discussed his neighborhood farm project and how he hopes to build a combined greenhouse and tilapia farm that optimizes nutrient use.
